Clay Leaf Prints
Press real leaves into clay and keep the season’s veins and edges forever.
Bold colour spraying, sculpting with pinecones and clay, collaging autumn leaves, and discovering textures through play.

Introduction
I always know Autumn has arrived when I start gathering treasures without even thinking. A pinecone in my pocket and a beautiful leaf tucked into my bag, and I'm a happy girl!
Those little moments spill into the studio too. Fall at Smudge is all about change and transformation, and the ways colours and textures shift throughout the season. I adore providing natural elements for the artists to explore and use in (somewhat) unconventional ways and seeing where they take it.
From Smudge to You
Below you'll find the collection of creative activities we've used to bring this theme to life at Smudge. Each one is an invitation to play, experiment, and see where the materials take you. Pick and choose what excites you and adapt them to your own space.
Press real leaves into clay and keep the season’s veins and edges forever.
Spray a leaf-lined curtain and watch colours drift, drip, and mix!
Let leaves, foil, and fabric collide into one glowing page.
What gorgeous shapes can leaves and mists of colour make?
Watch as the leaves appear from the background.
Let your brushes meet bark! You'll bring the season inside, in the very best way,
Wrap, bead, and bend wire around found cones to build playful, balancing forms.
Squeeze and spin and lift to reveal! A Smudge favourite process.
