Frequently asked questions
Kids aged 5 to 12. We run with mixed age groups and small ratios. Five is a firm minimum, so the booking form asks for each child's date of birth and won't take a booking for an under-5.
Every day runs 9am to 3:30pm. Drop off from 8:55am and pick up by 3:35pm. There are no half days this spring, every day is a full one.
A jacket, water bottle, nut-free snack, lunch, and clothes that can get messy. An extra bag to pop all their creations in at the end of the day is always a good idea too. We provide all art materials and smocks.
We're process-led and proudly so! Kids spend the day making, exploring and getting their hands stuck in, not following a template to a finished masterpiece.
Surrey Hills is our home studio at 102 Union Road. Burnley Backyard is our second studio at the Richmond Neighbourhood Centre, 49 Tudor Street, Richmond.
Surrey Hills runs all nine days. Burnley Backyard runs six of them, on the Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each theme below shows you which studio you can book it at, so just tap the one you want.
At Surrey Hills we walk 5 minutes to the local park after lunch (weather permitting). Both studios make use of their courtyards for messy outdoor making when the weather is fine, and spring is usually very good to us!
Both studios run rain or shine.
Families with self- or plan-managed NDIS plans may be able to use their funding to attend our holiday programs. We're happy to help with tailored invoicing if our program fits with your child's goals, just email hello@smudgeartspace.com.
Bookings are refundable up to 14 days before the program starts. Inside 14 days we'll offer a credit toward a future Smudge booking. If your child is unwell on the day, get in touch and we'll work it out.
Surrey Hills: free one-hour street parking on Union Road plus two-hour free undercover at the Coles Local (entry via Montrose Street). Burnley: street parking around Tudor Street.
You're welcome to stay for 5 minutes or so while your child settles in! After that, we will be ready to support your child with any goodbyes that feel tricky. We keep our classes purposefully small to ensure everyone is comfortable and free to create in their own way.
