The Art of Everyday Making

The Art of Everyday Making

The Smudge Hub is our online home for creative humans filled with lessons, projects and inspiration to help you bring the magic of Smudge into your own world.

The Smudge Hub is a creative home for educators, parents and curious makers.

It's built on more than a decade of classroom teaching and the joyful mess that happens inside our studio.

What began in Melbourne now reaches a global community of more than 110,000 creative humans who share a love of process art and play.

Smudge was built on one simple belief: the magic is in process, not the final masterpiece.

We invite kids to think, dream, take risks and create through playful, hands-on art experiences every day! It’s joyful, it’s messy and has grown out of 12 years of teaching, learning, and watching my own children, Olive and Finn, explore their creativity.

We all know that time is our most precious material

We all know that time is our most precious material

Endless scrolling looks like inspiration but it can leave you stuck.

Saving every reel does not make planning easier. I've been there and know the feeling.

Inside the Hub you'll find ready to go themes that we've tried and tested in our studio.

You will also get weekly drops of inspiration and a community that understands process art.

We take care of the thinking and the planning so you can focus on the joy of making.

You have been a huge inspiration to the art classes I teach at my childcare centre and are helping me gain confidence to eventually open my own space, which has been a long-held dream.

Why did we build the Smudge Hub?

Why did we build the Smudge Hub?

Smudge was built on a simple belief. The magic lives in the process, not the final masterpiece.

We invite kids and adults to think, dream, explore and take creative risks through playful, hands-on art experiences every day.

It’s joyful. It’s messy. And we love it.

It grew from more than ten years of teaching and from watching my own children, Olive and Finn, find their way with materials and ideas.

The Smudge Hub exists so you can bring that magic into your world, wherever you are.

FAQ

FAQ

What is the Smudge Hub?

An online home for creative adults. You will find projects, themes, material lists, guidance and community that support process art in classrooms, studios and at home.

Who is it for?

Educators, parents, artists and studio founders. Anyone who believes creativity should be simple, hands on and meaningful.

Do I need to be an artist or teacher?

Not at all! Clear notes and simple setups make it easy to start creating.

How much time will it take each week?

You can dip in for a single idea or plan a whole term. Many setups take less than fifteen minutes.

Do I need lots of fancy materials?

No. We use accessible supplies and give easy swaps for what you already have.

Can I use this with a range of ages?

Yes, yes, yes! Process art works beautifully across all ages. Each theme includes ways to adapt activities so you can simplify or expand depending on the group. From toddlers to tweens, it’s about the experience, not the end result.

How is this different from Instagram or Pinterest?

The Hub removes the guesswork. You get full guides, context, teacher notes and a community to ask for help. No more endless scrolling.

Can I access older themes or past content?

Yes. Members get instant access to the full Library and ongoing updates.

Is it only for people in Australia?

Not at all! Our community is global and everything inside the Hub is online. We keep materials flexible and time zones in mind so you can join from anywhere.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. We hope you’ll stay a while, but you’re welcome to cancel whenever you need. You’ll keep access for the rest of your billing period and can always come back when the timing feels right.

Will I get support if I get stuck?

Yes. Ask questions in the community or email us and we will help.
