FAQ
FAQ
How is Smudge different from other art studios?
At Smudge, we do things a little differently, and joyfully so! Our classes are grounded in process art, which means we focus on the making, not the final masterpiece. Kids are free to experiment, take creative risks, and follow their own ideas — there’s no pressure to “stay inside the lines” or replicate a perfect sample. We believe art should feel playful, meaningful, and full of discovery. That’s where the real magic (and learning!) happens.
My child is slightly older/younger than the age range. Can they still join?
Our holiday programs are thoughtfully designed for kids aged 5 to 12, so we do stick to this age range. This helps ensure everyone feels confident, engaged, and has the best possible experience.
What should my child bring to the Holiday Program?
Please pack morning tea and a nut-free lunch, a water bottle, any medication and relevant medical plans, clothes that love getting messy, a spare set of clothes, and a reusable bag for taking home all their gorgeous creations. We’ll provide everything else, including art smocks.
Can I use NDIS funding for the Holiday Program at Smudge?
Families with self- or plan-managed NDIS plans often use their funding to attend our Holiday Program. These sessions are ideal for supporting early developmental goals around creativity, regulation, fine motor coordination, sensory engagement, and social interaction. We understand that every child is different and we’re always happy to help with tailored invoicing and supportive communication with families and educators.
Where’s the best cark parking?
There’s usually plenty of free street parking right out the front on Union Road, or around the corner on Montrose Street. Another great option is the Coles Local undercover car park (entry via Montrose Street), just a short walk away.
